Dervish Energy Healing for the back
This gentle, back-focused modality is rooted in the Sufi (Dervish) wisdom tradition and reinterpreted through a modern, intuitive lens.
It is a slow, attuned form of bodywork along the spine, using light, intentional touch and flowing strokes with St. John's Wort oil, traditionally valued for its soothing and restorative qualities.
Alongside the physical touch, an energetic dimension invites a deeper settling of the nervous system, supporting inner coherence and a quiet unfolding of intuition and creativity.
Dervish Energy Healing (back) recognises:
-
The spine as a central channel
-
Touch as a form of listening
-
Healing as nourishment, not force
-
Stillness as a space for restoration and integration
-
The practitioner as a channel, not the source of healing
Effects of the Dervish Energy Healing (back)
-
Physical: gently supports natural spinal alignment and a more harmonious connection between the nervous system and different parts of the body. Many people report greater physical ease, including reduced muscular tension and back pain, improved posture, and a feeling of lightness and comfort within the body.
-
Mental, Emotional & Spiritual: The slow, rhythmic, and attentive nature of the practice invites a deeply restful state, often associated with the body's natural 'rest and restore' mode. Many describe increased mental clarity, focus, and cognitive ease, alongside emotional balance. There is often a soft quieting of mental noise, creating space of inner stillness and a sense of greater internal organisation.
-
Energetic: Repetitive, flowing movements—including figure-eight patterns—invite coherence within the body’s subtle energetic systems. From a traditional perspective, this may include stimulating pathways such as the bladder meridian along the back, associated with regulation, resilience, and balance.
The figure-eight carries deeper symbolic and energetic significance. By crossing the body’s subtle currents, it supports the alignment of complementary forces—left and right, inner and outer—inviting a sense of harmony and continuity.
As an expression of the infinity symbol, these movements may also be experienced as a bridge between the individual and the greater field of life, fostering a felt sense of connection and expansiveness.
Session Structure & Recommendations
-
Each session is approximately 30 minutes, followed by 10-15 minutes of integration time for rest and assimilation.
-
For continued integration, it is strongly recommended that the body remains enfolded in warmth, with minimal stimulation in the hours that follow. This is a time for silence and quiet contemplation. Showering is not recommended until the following day, to allow the body's subtle processes to continue undisturbed.
-
This work is offered as an initial series of four sessions allowing the body the time and continuity needed to open, respond, and integrate more fully. These four sessions are ideally received close to one another.
-
Additional sessions are available thereafter as needed.
PLEASE NOTE: Dervish Energy Healing sessions are currently available to women only. We hope to extend this offering to men in the future.
